Why is there Elastane in Lyna Leggings?
The fabric we use for our leggings has a small percentage of elastane to ensure proper fit and excellent long-term wear quality. After all, even the greatest leggings are going to end up in the donation pile if they bag around your knees after one wear. Elastane helps prevent this.
What is GOTS certification?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibers. It is backed by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain, including ecological and social criteria.
What is Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Certification?
The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is a worldwide, consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products at all processing levels, as well as accessory materials used.
Why should I care if my leggings are organic?
What you wear close to your skin matters. We want our customers to be able to live in their leggings, which means long exposure to anything in the fabric. High performance synthetics, antimicrobial materials, and anti-wrinkle treatments are great, but when we consider what’s in them and just how long they’ve been rubbing against our skin, it gives us pause.
Our skin is an amazing organ, able to directly absorb things that are applied to it. This is useful in healthcare when transdermal absorption is used to deliver painkillers, antibiotics, or blood pressure medicines. However, it’s not so great when it’s absorbing that antimicrobial coating or those water repellants your clothing is sometimes treated with. Not to mention, what we put in our bodies can be excreted in our milk. Yikes!
That’s why we chose organic cotton - no pesticides, no chemicals you don’t want to think about, no detergents. Just comfort.
How do I care for my new leggings?
Elastane tends to become brittle when exposed to high temperatures. Therefore, we recommend a cold-water machine or hand-wash and tumble dry on low. This will help ensure the Elastane fibers keep your leggings snug for years to come. It also saves energy and is better for our planet.
How do you package Lyna goods for shipping?
We are very aware of online shopping’s environmental imprint and try to make our packaging as sustainable as possible. We do not use individual bags for the items inside your package to minimize our use of plastic. To protect the leggings from the elements during shipment, we use compostable mailers which are made from a combination of PBAT (a bio based compostable polymer), and PLA (made up of plant materials such as field corn and wheat straw). These mailers are certified to break down within 90 days in commercial compost and 180 days in domestic compost conditions. After degradation, they leave no harmful residues behind. The tissue paper we use is made of recycled fibers and is biodegradable. We try to minimize the amount of printed materials in our package and use recycled paper whenever possible.
